Cochrane Collaboration and EBM in IAC Team
The researchers from the Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (Smolensk, Russia) collaborate with Cochrane Renal Group about two years. The main interests of our group are antibiotics, antimicrobial chemotherapy and EBM recommendation of antibiotics usage.
In the framework of EBM and Cochrane Collaboration our group is carrying out:
| • | hand searching in Russian medical journals
We have performed hand searching in Russian urological journals from 1980 to 2000 and presented received results on 9th Cochrane Colloquium.
Now we are performing hand searching in Russian journal «Antibiotics and Chemotherapy» («Antibiotiki i khimioterapia») and searching of RCT and CCT in journal «Antibiotics and Chemotherapy» in MEDLINE.
The main objective of this research:
to evaluate the accuracy of indexing of articles from «Antibiotics and Chemotherapy» in MEDLINE and estimate the possibility of detection of RCT and CCT from abstract citing in Medline and full-text of article. |
| • | dissemination the results of Cochrane systematic reviews and the principles of EBM among practitioners, educational specialists and medical students |
| • | providing of access for practitioners and post-graduate students, scientists to Cochrane Library on CD |
| • | creating systematic reviews |
| | We have prepared the protocol of systematic review «Quinolones for uncomplicated acute cystitis». |
| • | involving and educating more new persons for participating in handsearching and producing systematic reviews |
